RTI developed the low-cost 96 channel manual switch box to be useful in a variety of electrical bench test applications including powered and unpowered curve tracing.  The switch box features banana jack connectors and 3-position toggle switches for each I/O.  The banana jacks allow for binding posts while the toggle switches bias the pin between V+, V-, and no-state during test.  Switch boxes interface to the DUT board or adapter board using a ribbon cable with mating 100pin Yamaichi or 32pin IDC connectors.

Customization

Multiple switch boxes can be used together to manually bias each signal on devices with >96 I/O.  In this configuration, each switch box is responsible for connecting to a different bank of 96 pins on the device.  Universal and dedicated adapter boards provide improved cable management and offer custom signal routing between the DUT and the mating connector. Custom removable overlays offer unique identification of each switch and banana jack making setup and operation much more user-friendly when more than one switch box is required

Switch Box Configurations & DUT Boards

A DUT board with one 96 channel 100-pin connector cables directly to the manual switch box.  Plated through holes for manual wiring of each I/O are located close to the on board connector.  Compatible with all RTI test sockets and most 3rd party test sockets.

A DUT board with two 96 channel 100-pin connectors cables directly to two manual switch boxes.  Plated through holes for manual wiring of each I/O are located close to the on board connectors.  Standoffs between the DUT board and base plate allow for socket and cable clearance when the board is turned over to perform backside test.  Compatible with RTI’s low profile FA test sockets.

A DUT board with four 96 channel 100-pin connectors cables directly to four manual switch boxes.  Plated through holes for manual wiring of each I/O are located close to the on board connectors.  Standoffs between the DUT board and base plate allow for socket and cable clearance when the board is turned over to perform backside test.  Additional adapter boards offer signal routing to an in-line bank of connectors for cable management.  Compatible with all RTI test sockets and most 3rd party test sockets.

R4 boards with four sets of two connectors connect directly to multiple switch boxes using the connectors installed on either the topside or bottom side.  Backside of DUT board shown before backside connector installation.

R4 boards can be used stand alone or with RTI’s adapter boards.  Adapter boards allow R4 boards to be mounted live bug or dead bug and route signals to an in-line connector bank for ease of use with inspection tools.
